When I first found out I was pregnant (a mere five days before I ran the Kalamazoo Marathon in May 2011), Google quickly became my best friend, after my OB-GYN, of course.
I scored the Interwebz daily for websites, blogs, and advice about and for women who continued to run while pregnant. After running seriously for a few years, I wanted to be sure that I could keep up with my running routine while carrying and preparing for baby for the next nine months.
Turns out I wasn't the only one.
Tons of women have successfully maintained a running schedule throughout pregnancy, with some women even running on the very day they go into labor! After having a detailed discussion with my doctor about running, I was relieved to find out that not only could the sport remain a part of my life, but that it can be a very healthy and positive activity to engage in while pregnant.
Very Important Note: I author and operate this blog by my own free will and use experiences from my life, experiences I gained after speaking to my doctors. In no way can I be considered a doctor, training, or any other kind of medical specialist. (Trust me. My undergrad training is in secondary education - I can teach social skills and grammar like a mad woman, but I have zero training in medically related stuff.) Go talk to your doctor before embarking on any kind of exercise routine, pregnant or not.
